BOOKS 2005

Here is a list of the books that I have read or at least tried to read starting in 2005.

BOOK #1
BLACK WIND by Clive Cussler
Ok I am to say the least addicted to these books.
Almost all books have the same premise. First chapter a desperate situation where people will most surely die and are saved usually by our old heroes Dirk and his side kick.

Premise #2 The car chase. Usually in some sort of antique car that usually is running up against some modern day marvel. And somehow through luck and superior driving skills another assignation attempt on our characters is adverted.

Premise #3 The villain. No doubt a wealthy man who is set on some sort of world dominance. Who is incredible rich and ruthless beyond all imagination. He will surely have his ass handed to him in the end.

I know all these things before I even start the novel, and no matter what they are always a GREAT pleasure to read. I wish they were longer that’s all, as I seem to read them in a week and then have to go find a new book.

Mr. Cussler you have a formula that works like a charm on me, as usual I look forward to the next adventure.

BOOK #2
WHITE DEATH by Clive Cussler and Paul Kemprecos
For $6.99 I could not pass up on this book, another great read by the thriller master himself. The Character basically Dirk Pitt but now called Kurt Austin.
As always the books are a fantastic read and the outcome although know by page 1 is still a great read. Look forward to his next novel.

These novels with the new authors are very good unlike the Robert Ludlum and Tom Clancy and there co authors which to say the lease all are terrible.

BOOK #3
STATE OF FEAR by Michael Crichton
From the creator of Jurassic Park and a few of my favorite books to read comes another bomb. State of Fear has very little suspense and “bad” charcter develpment. While reading it I was wishing that somehow a dinosaur, broken cowboy robot, or some crazy Japanese man from his early novels would just kill everyone.

This book was hard as hell to get through as it was boring as hell, when I could not sleep I picked it up and within a few minutes I would be sleeping. I was very disappointed this time around as I was with his last novel. Hope he gets back to the writing about leading edge science and small group dynamics again soon the style and formula have worked in the past and made me a big fan.

BOOK #4
BE COOL by Elmore Leonard
Although Get Shorty is one of my favorite movies of all time, I had never read any of Elmore’s books. I am looking forward to this new movie for months. When I saw the book at the bookstore on my way to Vancouver I thought this would be a great way to spend the time on the plane.

The book is a simple read and I was ¾ of the way done by the time we landed. I thought of just leave the book on the plane as it is just a waste of paper. The characters are how do can say this nicely “boarding”. The book was not interesting at all. I finished the book off that night and it was one of those books you regret ever picking up like the Client by John Grisham.

I hope John Travolta has been able to bring out the charm of Chilly Palma on the big screen like he did in the first movie because the book was not able to do that.

Well the Mac World Expo in San Francisco was pretty good. Watched it last night when I got home yes before you ask I have no life. I am looking at buying an iMac and it’s just a matter of time. Maybe make the big purchase at the end of February or whenever the iMac gets a speed upgrade.

Work wise something is up at the office won’t go into any more detail than to say something is up and I will update at a later date.

Have been waiting for this day for some time, the day Apple computers reveals there new designs and concepts in San Francisco, I will be waiting to see what comes out of it.

One of my best friends David Kolt Luty left to go to Australia this weekend for two years. Wish him all the best in his adventure and he knows I will be there soon bugging him.

Read an interesting article on CNN “Clooney, O’Reilly spar over tsunami telethon” my admiration for actor George Clooney has just gone up a few notches, sounds like he is a down to earth person, who does not take shit for powerful news people that are full of SHIT.
